Teri Lovelace, Year of Woman Farmer

The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Year of the Woman Farmer to raise global awareness of the essential roles women play in agriculture. This Year will spotlight how women contribute to food production, nutrition, rural economies, and community wellbeing, while encouraging action to close gaps in access to resources, land, and opportunities. (Time and Date)

At Wallace Gap Farm, we are proud to be part of that story. Teri Lovelace leads our sales and marketing and is a driving force behind bringing our all-natural Black Angus beef to families. She works alongside her father in the fields and pastures, not just behind a desk, and is involved in daily farm life and beef deliveries. Her work helps ensure families understand where their beef comes from and why farm-raised food matters.

What the International Year Means

The 2026 Year aims to recognize contributions often overlooked and promote greater equality and opportunity for women across agrifood systems — from production to processing to sales. Women farmers are an important piece of the global workforce, yet they often face hurdles in accessing land, credit, training, technology, and decision-making roles. The initiative encourages policies and programs that help remove these barriers and support women’s leadership in agriculture around the world. (fao.org)

Why The Woman Farmer Matters

Women like Teri are key to keeping farms thriving and food systems strong. Their daily work feeds families, supports local economies, and carries traditions forward. At Wallace Gap Farm, Teri’s role makes your beef purchase feel personal. As we observe the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we celebrate Teri and all women making a difference in agriculture.

When you see Teri next, thank her for being a wonderful, woman farmer!
